Before you even think about working with me, there’s one very important thing you need to know.
I don’t do traditional talk based therapy or counselling.
If you’ve never experienced traditional talk based therapy, it creates a supportive space for you to talk about your challenges, have them reflected back to you and from that process, try to help you gain insight.
Based on my experience however, traditional talk based therapy is not the most effective way to deal with the complex emotional issues of chronic illness.
This is because chronic illness changes every aspect of your life and that’s something most therapists simply don’t understand.
And as you probably already know, when you become chronically ill there is almost zero support or understanding about how to come to terms with your new life and more importantly, what you can do about it.
Which is why what I do is very, very different from anything else out there.
I know exactly what the emotional issues are because living with four chronic autoimmune diseases myself, I have pretty much experienced them all.
Issues like:
- Not being believed or experiencing medical gaslighting.
- Grieving the loss of your old life and self.
- Not feeling supported by partners, family or friends.
- Feeling isolated, anxious and overwhelmed.
- Living with the constant fear of it getting worse.

The thing about chronic illness is that it fluctuates.
You never know from one day to the next how you are going to feel, how much energy you will have or what you are going to be capable of doing.

Do you only work with clients in Australia?
I work exclusively online with clients around the world anywhere that we can make the time zones work. The majority of my clients are based in the USA.
All you need to work with me is a reliable internet connection and a computer, phone or tablet that is capable of using Zoom audio/video calls.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a normal, natural state that everyone experiences. If you have ever worried, day dreamed or enjoyed a movie to the point where you felt like you were there with the characters, you have experienced hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy is the combination of hypnosis and therapy which helps us find the root cause of subconscious blocks, triggers and self-sabotage.
Hypnosis is not mind control and you cannot be made to do anything, believe anything or reveal anything against your will. You are totally in control of your experience.
My hypnotherapy is a safe, effective and relaxing experience and if you have any specific questions or concerns about hypnotherapy, we can talk them through during our Discovery Session.
What typically happens in a therapy session?
The first session is always skills based and partners are welcome to attend. I will guide you through the new emotional framework we will be working with so that you can start using your new strategies from day one.
Program sessions are a mix of counselling, cognitive work, skills, hypnotherapy and working on the issues and goals that are most important to you. Every session has a plan and every persons program is unique to them.
What if it doesn’t work for me?
The most common fear I hear all the time is ‘what if it works for everyone else but not for me?’
As so much of your program is skills based, all you really need is the willingness to learn, change and do things differently.
I will give you all the tools, support and strategies but unless you are willing to use them, nothing is going to change.
Unlike traditional talk based therapy, this is not a passive process.
We will be focusing on your issues, changing your habits, actively working on your relationships and creating the strategies you need, to take you from surviving to thriving in your life with chronic illness.
And the skills are easy enough to learn even with brain fog.
No program of therapy, no Doctor, Psychologist or other professional can ever guarantee a result.
In any form of therapy, education or treatment, you need to take responsibility for your part in the process, be willing to learn and to do things differently.
Nothing will change until you do and change is challenging which is why so many people struggle to do it.
